On this task we learnt what complexity means. For that, we had to read a chapter from a book.
In each chapter there were different parts, and for each part we had to find a new that could be related to it. We had to explain the relationship among news and parts. And with this we had to create a newspaper. The day of the presentation Linda explained us that we had to create a News Programme among all the class and we had to choose a new for each part of the chapter.

Summary
|
We realised how incredibly complex education is, and how everything in some sort of way influences it. Of course, we knew that it was a really complex system, not only being formed by the great amounts of academic content, but also emotions, feelings, tiredness, loneliness, friends, beliefs, ideologies… but maybe we weren’t aware of how everything’s related and that’s that connections can change the whole school and its values.
We guess that mainly what we have learned is that everything is connected. It doesn’t matter if you have an amazing teacher or beautiful values on your school, as if you have a bad peer relationship it will change the way you see everything. Moreover, society is constantly changing. The values, norms, government and so, educational laws change like fashions do (if we had a state pact for education, it wouldn’t happen), but we will always be subjected to some changes, as everything dies (teacher and students included) and comes again. We, as teachers, should be aware of that natural change and balance it with our tendency of stablishing a certain perdurance thrift norms and values, taking into account each and every aspect and relationship that could be made within the system. |

Self-evaluation
|
Inma: 7 because I didn’t understand well the complexity theory and I had to read it several times. Besides, later it was so difficult for me finding a news related with the part I had because the few news that I found about education I didn’t know how to relate them with the complexity theory, but finally I found one that I think it showed the complex organization of a school.
Alicia: 7 this week was really difficult for me, and as a team, because it was difficult to coordinate the work in order to know what others were doing. Also, we spent a lot of time looking for the news. Maria: 7 because this week was difficult and I didn't do news about the complexity because I was the manager for doing the stories about relationship, and for that reason too I don't understand the complexity theory so much. But now I will study the complexity for the exam. Marta: 7, at the beginning I was not able to understand the complexity so it was hard for me preparing this activity. I was frightened because I did not find any relationship with a new and the part of the text that I was in charge, but finally I remembered a tv program that talks about it. Despite of the complexity, we did a good work. Ana: 8, this week my role was facilitator. I tried to do my best dividing the work between the components of my group. In my opinion, the task was the most difficult because of the content of what we had to read. However, the result was so good. Teresa Chico: 7, at first I had to read several times the chapter of complexity to understand it and it was difficult to find a new that could be properly related to the chapter. Teresa Abad: 7, because at the beginning I couldn't relate my part of the work with a new, but then with patience I did it. It was also difficult to me to understand the texts we had to read. Group; 7, although at first we didn't understand very good the complexity theory, after read it some times have finally understand what complexity means. And we have been able to find the news and relate them with the chapter. |
Relation with competencies |
Although we know that schools are complex organization, with this activity we have realised that they are more complex of what they look like.
We have understood that schools are formed by lot of different elements and that all of these elements are related one to another and they influence each other. Also, we have learnt that there are lot of connections within the school and that a school wouldn’t work properly if there were lacks of relationships among the components, that means that in a school we have to work in a cooperative way. |
